<description>What are the code of ethics for a pageant director with regard to interacting with contestants prior to competition (showing favoritism), nepotism, and acting as auditor or actually handling the scores and interfacing with the judges before the crowning event?

Should a Pageant Director have access to judges scores prior to crowning?
Should a Pageant Director allow the daughter of the &quot;Official Photographer&quot; compete?
Should a Pageant Director allow a reigning queen from her MAO prelim pageant to be a judge in this pageant she produces? Especially if the reigning queen isnt MAO certified?
Should a pageant director HUG and embrace certain contestants in front of other contestants?
Should a pageant director announce winners and show more enthusiasm for some winners over others?

Help me understand what the ROLE of a pageant director should be and what code of ethics they should stand behind!!!

Thanks for writing and expressing your concerns on the role of a director.
In my own experiences, I must say that a director has many roles and duties, he or she inneracts with potential contestants from the day of the very first contact with them, to the day of the event and after. Over the years, I have made lasting friendships with actual contestants and even their parents. You are only as good as your following and the referals that you acquire over the years. He are all human, and Emotions play a big part in our lives and the lives that we touch through the field of pageant competition. Showing excitement for the winners is a total natural feeling as well as privately hurting for the ones that didn&#039;t win or place.

Hugging contestants, parents, sponsors, staff, entertainers and showing folks that YOU CARE is a quality that I hope we can all posses.

This whole Universe we live in is only based on FEELINGS and EMOTIONS. Serving as a Pageant Director, is a road to many triumphs as well as dissapointments. We learn as we go through the growing proscess, as we build a reputation of Honesty and Equal Opportunity for all who enter into the world of Pageantry.

I use my reigning royalty to judge my children pageants as well as the older girls.
It is the director&#039;s job to have Orientation with the judges and let them know the scoring proscess and the areas to look for when judging. All pageant systems are different and areas of competition show a diversity among the different pageant systems. Please excuse the wrong spellings.

Yours In Pageantry,
Shelly Winters Black</description>
