After the Pageant is Over

General
I just wrapped up the Miss New Orleans Pageant and I’m pooped. I’ve been preparing for this pageant for months. Hours and hours of designing applications and flyers, printing flyers, and then distributing them around town to prime locations. I’ve been answering questions on the phone and email. Sending and recieving faxes from contestants. As a director I am constantly working on the preperations for the pageant.

It all gets pretty heavy and you get an intense adreniline rush. Every thing you focus on builds up the excitement of the upcoming Beauty Pageant. And when it is finished you have a big crash.  All the adreniline stops and you feel the let-down. Older women know what I mean when I say its Hormonal.  If you’ve had a baby you know what I mean.   All those hormones that your body was pumped up with are gone.  You’ve run out of the body’s natural dope.

A major change happens to a director when the pageant finally comes to an end. You are really tired and in need of a physical and mental break.

I suggest you take a whole week off.  Forget about pageant stuff.  Tell people who want score sheets or other things to give you a week before contacting you.  I’m serious.  You need this rest.

Not only that but you probably neglected your family and your housework. So you need this week to catch up to your normal life.

Before long you will be thinking about your next Pageant Project and you will be glad you took the time out to recuperate.

Yours in Pageantry
Shelly
