Questions about Purchasing a Pageant

Tips and Hints

Good morning, Mrs. Shelly here are some question I have about purchasing the Miss Metairie and the Miss Jefferson Parish Beauty Pageants.

1.  How do you feel about someone being a mom of 3 and working?

Should I be concern with how much time and devotion this would take? (which I’m not because I ready to put in time but just want to ensure I’m not getting in over my head, maybe my expectation of how things operate is not in full perspective.

Getting ready for a pageant is done part time from home and some leg work, putting out fliers at day care centers, salons, dancing schools etc. You can have family or friends help with this.

I would do work on line an hour in the morning and an hour or half hour at night after my son went to bed. The internet is a POWERFUL tool and I do less leg work since we have it.
Working pageants is a blessing when you have children because YOU do it at your convenience.

It takes about three months to prepare for your pageant. Follow my directors KIT and you will be prepared.

2. What’s the average amount of contestant participation? Im pretty sure the pageant names draw compeititors.

You are correct. The Names of these title draw the contestants plus they tell their friends and now FACE BOOK is a plus also in promoting. You can create a Miss Jefferson Parish and Miss Metairie Pageants page!!!!!

The average amount is 40 contestants in all the age divisions. This will generate about $2,000.00 in profit. The ideal amount for a nice profit of $3,000.00 is 50 contestants. 60 contestants will get you about $4,000.00 in profit. You will also make money at the door and on ad sales and selling of program books.

Invite dance schools to perform during the event and allow the dancers to enter free and two chaperone’s. They will tell their family and the family will pay at the door. The more you net work, the more money you make.

Before the storm, I made $6,000.00 in profit on $50 contestants. So the more you advertise and get family and friends and sponsors involved, the more money you will make.

Give your sponsors a full page ad in the program book and you can put fliers out in their business and they can donate prizes such as tanning gift certificates, flowers from a florist, jewelry, restaurants etc.

Another way to make extra money during your pageant is have a peoples Choice Award. I give a Rhinestone Crown to the winner. The audience pays to enter their favorite contestant in the drawing. The more chances paid, the higher the chance of their contestant winning. You can make an extra $500 on this.

This weekend is the Miss Lafayette Pageant and the director has already 60 children, That is a good sign for the economy.

3.

How much money can I look to push out for this investment?

My expenses for the Miss Jefferson parish Pageant is around $2,500.00 to $2,800.00. This is your advertisement, crowns, banners, trophies, prizes, hotel banquet, etc. I will guide you through this process. As your entries start coming in, you will have the money to purchase these items.

4. How soon or you looking to sell and what would be the next step moving forward as far as I submitting payment?

I will draw up the Bill of Sale Contract to send to you by email. Look it over and from there, We can set a date to meet and transfer The pageant Items to you along with your payment to me.

I have Video of past pageants, poster boards from previous years to show the history of the pageants. Vinyl Banners and Signs. Score Sheets and other promotional items to hand over to you along with the Complete Director’s Kit and legal Certificates from the secretary of states office of the Trade Names for both the Miss Jefferson Parish and Miss Metairie Pageants.

I am looking to sell in the month of May, 2011.

Im not too concerned  with where to get things from like crowns, venues, set up equipment. I know you can help with that.

Thanks a lot cant wait to hear back from you.

I am looking forward to working with you and assisting you in establishing your directorship in the pageant Industry.

Question about High School Pageant

Tips and Hints
Here is a question about a High School Pageant.

Hi Shelly,

I am the director of a high school pageant and have a question.  We don’t not have the girls do interviews or answer a question during the pageant.  In the past, parents complained the pageant was to long.  For the past three years we have had the girls say a little something to a question like “who inspires you the most”?  We have 60 girls in the pageant. Do you have any suggestions on what the girls can say in a few seconds each to show their personality?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Missy

Hello Melissa,

High School pageants are a great deal of fun for everyone involved. Having 60 contestants is a wonderful number and parents should be prepared for this before attending. Like a dance recital. Every contestant has the same opportunity to shine!

I would suggest calling out the Top 15 after they compete in Evening gown and bringing the Top 15 back on stage,One at a time to answer a question, this may be selected by the Judges, or just a general question. One of my favorite questions is, What is Your Career choice and why did You select it?

Let me hear from you and best wishes for a successful pageant.

See You On The Run Way!

Shelly
