Helping a High School Student with her Senior Project

General

I recently recieved an inquiry from a high school student needing help with her senior project. I try my best to help anyone interested in the Beauty Pageant Industry.

It was a pleasure working with Taylor Textor to get information about children’s pageants. What she didn’t know was how deep she would get into the Beauty Pageant World.

Go to this link to see the video and read the first part of my interview with her.

Questions concerning payment for judges.

General
Hey Shelly, I bought the kit last year, I cant find some info I was looking for in it.

Can you let me know what you pay judges or are they only volunteer’s?

I offer gas money to my judges, a gift and a meal!
It is an honor to be asked to judge a pageant, treat them great that day and the hospitality will be appreciated by them.
Also do you pay or give anything to other volunteers?

I pay my assistants $100 a day. They are there from the morning until the closing of the pageant and most of the time, help take down the stage and pack things up.

How do you find judges?

Folks you know, teachers, dance teachers, dentist, dress shop owners, hair stylist.etc. You as a director should inform the judges on what to look for and how the scoring works. Give them a few suggestions and guidelines when scoring. Look for ladies that have held titles in the past. They make excellent judges and will even assist you in recruitment for the following year.
Call modeling agencies in your area, ask them to be a judge or sponsor the winners with scholarships in exchange for giving them an ad in the Program book!
Remember, it is all a part of Net Working. The more people you get involved, the more successful Your Pageant will be.
Thanks, hope to hear from you soon!!
