Direct Your Pageant 2009

 Happy New Year!

I’m excited about getting back on track with this website and the upcoming year of pageants on my slate. I’m also excited about sharing with you what I’ve learned about directing beauty pageants here on Direct Your Pageant.

This new format is a wordpress blog and I’m still learning how to properly set it up and use it. So there may occasionally be some glitches. Bear with me guys.

I’ve been getting request for people to register but I’m not ready to do that yet so I’ll ask all of you who want to participate to go ahead and leave comments on the articles I write. Just click the comment button at the bottom of each article.

Also wanted to tell you that I’m almost finished with the new and improved version of the Complete Directors Kit. The kit now contains my Video Journal to give you a behind the scenes look at how a director prepares for setting up and running a successful beauty pageant. The kit still includes all kinds of documents that you will absolutely need to be successful; letters, entry forms, a judges handbook, contracts, etc.

Because of the rough economy I’ve lowered the price from $199 to only $49.95. Thats a quarter of the original price. Its my way of giving back to the pageant industry.

So stay tuned.

Yours in Pageantry,

Shelly

    Hi Shelly,

I won several pageants before and I really want to start my own pageant and buy your awesome director’s kit but I am scared that I wont have enough money to invest on it. I would like to know how much will it cost me to start a small pageant like a “county” pageant with 30 contestants? (estimate.)
I am looking forward to your reply, you can reach me at via email at firandrup@yahoo.com .

Thank you for your valuable time.

    Sincerely,

    Fiona Mayo

    Hello Fiona,
You can start a local pageant with as little as $300.00
$50 to regirster it with the Secretary of state’s office.
Build a basic website to advertise.
Have flyers printed and put them out everywhere.
If you are willing to do the leg work, YOU can make it happen!!!

    Hi Shelly,

I am wanting to start a pageant. How do I go about registering it with the Secretary of States office? Do you recommend how I should go about getting the word out on a new pageant? or how to get girls excited about it? Also, when is a good time to have one? Spring or does it matter?

    Thank you so much,
    Tonya Virtue

    Hello Tonya,

First of all, once you have a Name for your pageant, Go to your State’s Secretary Of States Office website. Go to the Commercial section and print the TRADE NAME link. You should be able to print the trade name application.

Fill it out and mail it in with a check for the required fee and go to a Notary and have it notarized, You will need the filled out form and your drivers license. Our fee in Louisiana is $50.

The Internet is a powerful tool for marketing your pageant with face book, my space, U tube and Your Own Personalized Pageant Web site.

Any month is a good time to have a pageant and the summer months is the best time because the children are on summer break.

Choosing a Theme for your first pageant is an excellent idea and gets the contestants excited like Easter wear, red white & blue wear, swim wear, etc.

    Yours In Pageantry,
    Shelly

i want to plan and direct a tourism beauty pageant.what do i do?

    Hello,

Google your state’s tourism web site and list the word pageant. You should be able to get information from this search. There most often will already have a pageant for the state and welcomes new local directors. Best Wishes.

    Hello Shelly,

I just purchased your kit today and am so excited to dig into it! It looks like it is all online, is that correct?

Also, is the business license needed for a pageant different than registering it with the Secretary of State’s office? Thanks so much for your help!!!

    Shelly,

Thank you for information about the pageant industry. I think I will have fun directing pageants. Although I have not been in a pagent since high school I have been directing benefits and such on the side. And I feel that pageants will be a great asset to my list of skills. However, I was curious; I just viewed one of your videos on youtube.com and you said something about a free book. Please let me know if I am too late. Thanks a bunch.
